OUR LABORATORY AIMS TO INFORM ABOUT SUICIDE PREVENTION
Suicide is complex and tragic, but it can be prevented. Mental health problems are among the most significant risk factors. Our research laboratory is committed to generating knowledge to inform suicide prevention and mental health promotion efforts.
OUR GOALS
Examine, from a developmental epidemiological perspective, individual, community, societal and intergenerational determinants related to suicide.
Develop and evaluate the effectiveness of innovative interventions.
Develop, evaluate and disseminate interventions at all levels of suicide prevention, including for mental health promotion.
Our research laboratory, based at McGill University and the Douglas Mental Health University Institute, is directed by Dr. Marie-Claude Geoffroy, psychologist, associate professor of psychiatry and Canada Research Chair in Mental Health Promotion and Suicide Prevention.
Our team includes highly qualified research professionals, statisticians, master’s and doctoral students, as well as postdoctoral researchers. We actively collaborate with clinicians and people with lived experience.
